Lateral entry option for JEE Main 2014 candidates: AICTE A notice has been issued by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for all Polytechnic/Engineering diploma holder applicants who appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2014 (JEE Main 2014), as per the official website of JEE Main. The information relates to eligibility for Bachelor of Engineering (BE)/Bachelor of Technology (B Tech)/Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch) admission through JEE Main 2014. Candidates who have pursued Polytechnic or Engineering diploma programs from State Board of Technical Education and applied for JEE Main 2014, need to note that students who have completed Engineering/Architecture/Pharmacy diploma programs from an AICTE approved institute with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) are eligible for admission to the second year of four-year degree Engineering/Pharmacy and five-year Architecture programs through Lateral Entry. These candidates need not appear for any entrance examination. According to the AICTE, if a diploma level candidate aspires for admission into the first year of four-year degree Engineering/Pharmacy or five-year Architecture program and has a 12th certificate, then the candidate will be eligible on the basis of the Class XII certificate. Hence, if any Polytechnic/Engineering diploma holder has completed Class XII from a board between the years 2012 and 2014, the candidate needs to update and upload the Class XII result information on the JEE website - jeemain.nic.in, through the link “Confirmation of Class 12th/Qualifying Examination Marks as Received from Board” latest by Thursday, July 3, 2014. If the candidate fails to do the same, it will be assumed that the candidate is only a diploma holder and will not be treated eligible for admission to BE/B Tech/B Arch/B Planning as per the aforementioned guidelines of AICTE.
