Latest Book: The Feynman Lectures on Physics: Volume 13, Feynman on Fields. Got this because I was hoping Feynman would give me a better sense of what fields are. Surprising discoveries: (1) The collected audio lectures are all out of order. This one went from special relativity to electromagnetic radiation to general relativity. Not sure I really get why theyre presented this way, other than to make them easier to sell. (2) There wasnt actually a lecture on fields, generally, which was a little disappointing. (3) Feynman is really engaging, especially when being forthright about the limits of the science. Newtons law lets you predict how things will move under the influence of gravity, but nothing about the machinery of gravity, for instance -- how and why they move, etc. (4) These are a great listen for folks who already know a good amount of physics but, boy, I think I would have been totally lost on the midterm were I a CalTech freshman sitting in these classes in 1961, and (5) Feynmans explanation of special relativity wasnt as cogent as I thought it would be, but his intro to general relativity was really good. I might do more of these. Well see. audible/pd/Science-Technology/The-Feynman-Lectures-on-Physics-Audiobook/B002V0JXEQ
