Latest Ghana Jobs: Early Warning Officer at African Union: Location: Outside Ghana Description: The African Union, established as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, Solidarity, cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of African and African States as well as developing a new partnership worldwide. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia. In seeking to achieve these objectives the African Union intends to strengthen its capacity to deliver by, among others, the implementation of new organization structure and the filling of vacant posts. The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the post of Early Warning Officer. Job Title: Early Warning Officer Job Location: Ethiopia, Addis Ababa Grade: P2 Supervisor: Head of the Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Division (CPEWD) Job Description * Monitor political and socio-economic developments in a specific region * Undertake writing of early warning reports, situation updates, briefs, as well as trends analysis, and utilize the CEWS methodology and tools in using the information collected by the Situation Room * Facilitate information exchange with the early warning systems of the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) as well as analyze such information for the attention of the leadership of the Peace and Security Department (PSD) * Work Closely with the Situation Room and assist in the development and customization of data collection and analysis tools * Develop and regularly update the CEWS Strategic Conflict Assessment (SCA) methodology Handbook * Assist in the development of guidelines on nature, scope and strategy for enhancing partnership, coordination and collaboration between CEWS and PSD Divisions and programs, other AU Departments, RECs/RMs, International Organisations, CSOs and other relevant stakeholders * Assist in the preparation and service inter-governmental and other meetings * Assist in providing on-the-job training to CEWS staff on early warning * Perform any other project related duties as may be assigned by the Head of the Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Division (CPEWD) Qualifications and Requirements * A University Bachelor Degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Law, Conflict Prevention and Resolution or relevant social science fields * At least five (5) years relevant experience working in the United Nations system or other international organizations, a policy research think tank or lecturing at a University in Political Science, International Law or undertaking research with excellent social science methodology skills * Must have excellent presentation and writing skills coupled with an excellent knowledge of current political, social and economic developments in Africa and the World * Must have the ability to work with a team of professional staff and capacity for creativity and initiative as well as the ability to work under pressure Visit jobberman.gh/job/48820/early-warning-officer-in-outside-ghana/ to apply jbgh.me/7sngQq Share with friends!
