Latest Media Releases Police investigate fatal head-on collision near Coffs Harbour Wednesday, 19 March 2014 05:27:43 PM A motorcyclist has died in a head-on collision at Korora, near Coffs Harbour, this afternoon. About 3:40pm, Wednesday 19 March 2014, emergency services were called the Pacific Highway near Campbell Close after a head-on collision between a Holden Commodore and a motorcycle. A man, aged in his 50s, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. A number of witnesses stopped and rendered first aid to the man, however, he died at the scene. They also extinguished his motorcycle which had burst into flames as a result of the collision. Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist forensic officers and officers from the Northern Region Crash Investigation Unit. The driver of the Holden, a 42-year-old man, was not injured in the collision but taken to Coffs Harbour Medical Campus for mandatory blood and urine tests. Motorists are advised the northbound lane of the Pacific Highway remains closed with a single lane contra-flow in place. They are being urged to avoid the area or consider alternate routes while investigations of the scene are conducted. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing and police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
