Latest Update From Jack: Hate clichés but its good news and bad The Good: spots we were concerned with did not Change,no additional growth! Labs were consistently great! back to 166lbs. went in yesterday with very positive energy, both physically and mentally and I once again thank you all for that. A lot of you were getting amazing stuff out there for scan day! Very thoughtful considering how emotional scan days can be for me. The general was his usual remarkable professional !!! One of his many gifts is the way he can effortlessly deliver the no so great to downright bad news. He starts going over clinic results or a few questions for me and before you know it,the General has already delivered the not so great, to downright bad news in such a calm and even keeled demeanor that by the time it sinks in, Hes already discussing one of the treatment options:):) !The Bad: there were a few new spots of potential growth that The General is paying attention to:(:( So the Avastin alone treatment, which was working fine has become ineffective. This was a bit disappointing because I went in yesterday with very positive energy, both physically and mentally and I once again thank you all for that. A lot of you were getting amazing stuff out there for scan day! Very thoughtful considering how emotional scan days can be for me.The little bugger found a way around the nutrient blockade of the avastin yesterday, besides my usual avastin infusion I got 5 pills of a new chemo(new to me, not a trial, an established chemo that seems to work well with the Avastin:):). ) Ill get my paperwork and follow up with the name later. It acts in a similar fashion to Temodar, the first chemo I was treated with at the beginning of this journey! Besides the usual mild to moderate fatigue and nausea, this drug requires close monitor of cell counts must be extra diligent bout microbes!! So if you thought I was over-cautious before, watch out now!!! Just ordered a spacesuit from NASA :):):) this also means labs weekly instead of every infusion day, a small price to pay for trying a new weapon against the evil that loomsIve wanted to try something new and potent for a while! Not that I didnt appreciate the break from the CPT11 and Avastin combo!! Maybe I need to get the optimism back in check but it feels like the new drug is already working!in the words of Coach Bill on to the next round of treatment With its new hope, different attack strategy and helpful data! Thanks again for the unprecedented support from you all. I hope that your transistion into Winter and the Holiday season is is as seamless as one of the the Generals reportsI!For you and because of you, I remain Jack Strong!!!, Jack
