Latest from Byron Shire Council: At their meeting on 27 Feb 2014, councillors discussed noise monitoring at North Byron Parklands, location of Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival 2013. Council made note of apparent inconsistencies in the noise report the developers send to the Department of Planning and discussed the idea of Council doing its own noise monitoring during Splendour 2014. This is an excellent idea. Council should be keeping close track of whats going on at the site even though the state is the consent authority. Also, given the inadequate noise monitoring done by the developers on two occasions in 2013, its important for Council to provide a more objective assessment of the noise--noise that has seriously disturbed so many residents during Splendour and Falls! Lets hope Council engages its own professional and truly independent noise engineer for Splendour 2014!
