Latest update: 14 counties hit by floods; Boulder, Larimer, Weld and Morgan hardest hit. 6 dead, 584 missing in Boulder and Larimer counties. 1750 people and 300 pets rescued by National Guard helicopters in two counties (Boulder and Larimer). between 20 and 30 bridges washed away or damaged in Boulder country alone. No count yet in other key areas, but many expected. Numerous rail bridges washed out or damaged. Many roads still closed throughout the 4 hardest hit counties as well as Jefferson and Adams counties. Still raining; expected 2-4 additional inches through Sunday night. Distribution operations severely affected. Trains with coal, wind turbines and wood supplies stalled indefinitely. Stores with significantly depleted stocks. Many businesses and all schools in the worst 4 counties still closed. Eerily quite throughout area, except for continuing rescue operations. Larimer and Boulder county sherrifs departments doing excellent job across the board in hardest hit areas. All Emergency Operations Centers doing very good job of surveying damage, search and rescue operations and temporary shelter set-ups. Soldiers from Fort Carson mobilized to support all hardest hit areas with Army equipment being fully utilized in search and rescue operations, clean-up of mud, and backstopping temporary barriers in all areas. Apparently 10+ towns completely evacuated with National Guard providing security. Best estimates for complete repairs are 1 -2 years! Standing water throughout all areas, exaserbating lyme-disease mosquito problem. Water in flood areas completely contaminated by damage to a few water treatment plants, with associated ruined crops and livestock feed and water issues. Some livestock either dead or still stranded. We, and all family, still doing well, no damage, no problems. Prayers for all affected always welcome. Hopefully, no rain for several days beginning tomorrow will help to begin alleviation!
