Latest update on Keegan... (by Michelle Goode Phelps) Todays update for Monday. Have had some pretty good news today. After having such a good night last night and everything going well during the day they have decided to send keegan up to another floor and out of icu. His lungs look and sound much better but he still has some stuff hes coughing up. Which is a good thing. They want him to get it all out and it means the medicine they are giving him is working. The cardiologist that does the heart catheterizations came in this morning and said he wanted to wait another week or 2 before doing the cath to make sure his lungs were better/more clear and that he is stronger. He also said after comparing his ekg and echo to previous ones that there doesnt seem to be much of a change and he is not convinced this had a lot to do with his heart. There is also reason to believe his asthma and allergies because of his heart played a big part in this although it is extremely rare either way. However, they will know more when they do the cath. So as of right now they are working on switching his medications. Mainly the ones for asthma to help treat and prevent this from happening to something we will be able to use at home. Of course they are having trouble getting insurance to pay for some if it. So hopefully he has another good night and we may be able to come home within the next few days. At least until we have to be back for his heart cath. In the meantime we will probably have a follow-up appointment with pulmonologist and more testing done with allergist. So not a lot of answers now but its great they think hes healthy enough to go home for a short time. Thank you everyone for all the love and support.
