Latest vital report: At 6:40-45pm Melbourne time today, on the Southbank side of the Yarra River bridge, my iPod Poddy was stolen literally from right behind me while I was busking to its backing as Paddy Pan. (Thankfully they did not take my new red U.E. Boom speaker it was attached to as well.) It is not a complete disaster and there are worse, less easily-replaceable things I own that could have been stolen, (such as my violin,) but that iPod provided a significant part of my artistic living, as a provider of performance act tracks, training music, travel music, backing tracks and music to learn on my instruments. Poddy is a white iPod Classic with some dark smudges on the screen when it lights up, a tiny dent on the bottom left corner of its metal hindpart, and 32 gigabyte capacity. It has lasted well beyond its warranty, as Ive had it since 2012, when I was living in Wellington and inherited it secondhand from a lovely girl named Becca who didnt want it anymore. Fortunately there was a combination of a nice lady who took a picture of me around that time, which shes promised to send to me, and a security camera at the end of the bridge, which I was right next to, so I have filed a report at the police station in the hopes that the moment of Poddys theft can be captured and the thief identified. Ill give you one bit of credit, Oh Audacious Wrongdoer: You must either have a lot of guts or be really stupid to just take someones device from right behind them while there are people watching the performer. Unfortunately, what you did comes under the classification of the human invention of Wrong, for which you must eventually pay, either by justice or by Karma. It was about time that Poddy got replaced anyway, as the headphone jack would often go faulty, switching from stereo to mono to zero depending on its wearers slightest movement, but that matters not, tis the principle of the thing thats at stake here :P And I did not bother to take out my standard ASB banks Recommended Insurance policy as I usually do on these trips, because of the consistent annoying reminder that they cover me for anything/everything except training and busking/performance-related incidents, the two main reasons I come here. :P But, focussing on the positives, I went to Bounce, tidied up flick flacks and aerial cartwheels, won a free 2-for-1 pass which anyone who wants is welcome to come with me, got all my heavy my money changed into notes at the bank and celebrated with thickshake and ice cream at Cold Rock. A most adventurous day ^_^
