“Latino Americans” coming to PBS this fall At the upcoming 2013 NCLR Annual Conference, we will be joining with the American Latino Heritage Fund and the PBS Latino Americans series to present a superworkshop exploring the untold stories of American Latino history. The workshop will showcase clips and a presentation on PBS’ “Latino Americans,” with producer Adriana Bosch. Latino Americans is a landmark three part, six hour documentary series that is set to air nationally on PBS in the fall of 2013. Check out scenes from the series pictured here. The films will be the first major documentary series for television to chronicle the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos, who have helped shape the United States over the last 500-plus years and have become the largest minority group in the U.S. numbering more than 50 million. Latino Americans will retell the Latino story in the U.S. from the 16th century to present day. PBS states, “It’s a story of immigration and redemption, of anguish and celebration, of the gradual construction of a new American identity that connects and empowers millions of people today.” Latino Americans will also feature interviews with an array of influential individuals, including: Rita Moreno, Dolores Huerta, Linda Chávez and Gloria Estefan.
