Lauro Nyro was born on Oct 18, 1947. She died of ovarian cancer in 1997. For those interested, she was a soulful white singer that had a good amt of popularity and critical acclaim briefly, in the late 60s, early 70s. She had a very jazzy, musical style, voice showing alot of range and life, really singing her rather creative songs - which were often seemingly far freer and less structured than most pop music. Her recording career was more sporadic after the early 70s, think partly due to wanting to take time off for her children. She also I believe, was often cursed by stagefright.
