Lautoka wants duo for IDC Zanzeer Singh Wednesday, August 21, 2013 THE Lautoka Football Association will hold discussions with their Vanuatu imports on their availability for the Courts Inter District Competition in October. Jean Kaltack who turned 19 on Monday and Niko Jack were recruited by the Design Engineering Blues for the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants. The duo who play for the Erakor Golden Star club hold a six month work permit in the country. They are expected to return to Vanuatu next month. Lautoka Football Association president Shalendra Prasad said they were keen to utilise the Vanuatu players in the IDC. He said the changes in the policy regarding foreign players by Fiji Football Association would kill the interest in the local tournaments. Prasad said they would be filing a motion during the annual congress in a bid to change the new policy. "Who will be liable to pay for the contracts of the foreign players that will now have to be terminated because of the new policy changes," questioned Prasad. "We will be writing to the Fiji FA to seek a clarification. This change will not help develop Fiji soccer. "Around the world foreign players are being recruited to strengthen the teams. "It is really a funny situation where we can send our players to represent clubs in other countries but cannot get foreign players to represent the teams here. "Soccer has turned professional but in Fiji it still has amateur status. "We are just not progressing." Meanwhile the Lautoka players were handed a $400 bonus for reaching the final of the BOG. Prasad said the team officials threw a party for the players and their family members at the Hotel 2000 after the loss to Ba on Sunday. "We take the loss in our stride," Prasad said. "It was a game that we should have won but the silly errors cost us. Ba is a champion side and they proved it by coming from behind. "We are hosting the IDC and our target is to win the trophy on home soil. We will be negotiating with Jean and Niko to come over in October. "The local competition will start on Sunday." The IDC will be the last tournament where foreign players will participate locally.
