Lave Tet The Sacred Ceremony Of Consecrating the Head In the beginning of Haitian Vodou History prior to the Asson-leneage Initiation lineage becoming so popular people were entered into the religion of Haitian Vodou through a ceremony called “lave Tet” a ritual that takes 3 days long to complete. “Lave Tet” translates into “Cleansing Head” which means to cleanse the head of all negative energy and spirits in order for the higher self to clearly function and better attune with God and all the divine elevated spirits that walk with them on this journey called “life”. Connecting with the divine, and staying connect is the most important goal in Haitian vodou followed by the important’s of honoring our roots. As a result the “Lave Tet” ceremony is very important step the every vodouisant must take in order to elevate and over some of the current spiritual challenges and problems. Today there is the Asson Initiation-Liniage which not every is allowed to enter to reap the rewards. However, the “Lave Tet” is open to all who wish for serious positive life changes. The “Lave Tet” is a 3 day ceremony that starts from a Wednesday to a Saturday. After the cleansing, participants are go kouche (Kreyol, lie down) in a badji (a sacred space) prepared for them is magical rites. During the participant’s time in this sacred space participants will gain knowledge revealed that will be revealed to them, receive visits from the Lwa and ancestors, the ceremonies will be administered to them and their will receive a life reading were the “Met Tet” The Ruler of You head will be revealed. Any additional messages from the loa and ancestors will be addressed as well. What happens in this space stays in this space!!! All participants will then be baptized, their heads now consecrated in the service of God and Ginen. A small dinner is held to celebrate the beginning of a new path for everyone. All participants must go to a church the following Sunday to pray. The Lave Tet ceremony (outside of the Kanzo) is truly to powerful and mystical to ever truly put into words. It is a alternative great for those that cannot afford the time or expense for a Kanzo, or wish to better prepare for a Kanzo. For those who do not have the calling of the loa to Kanzo, or those who serve the loa but do not wish to kanzo or cannot travel to Haiti Kanzo this is a very good alternative.
