Law Enforcement Today 53 mins · STATE TROOPER KILLED, ANOTHER INJURED IN AMBUSH OUTSIDE PIKE COUNTY BARRACKS BLOOMING GROVE TWP., Pa. - One State Trooper is dead and one is injured after being shot in an apparent ambush outside the State Police Barracks in Blooming Grove, Pike County. The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Friday night. Police say one trooper was leaving and another one coming on duty when they were shot. Officials say they believe the shooting was a targeted attack against the state police. As of early Saturday morning, police said the gunman or gunmen were still on the loose. Police helicopters from New Jersey and New York are helping search the area. At this point, authorities say they do not have a good description of the shooter or shooters. Police do not believe the general public is at risk, but are asking residents to be on the look out for anything suspicious. The officer who was injured in the shooting was operated on and is in stable condition. Police say they are looking into leads into what prompted the shooting, but would not elaborate. Officials would not say if there had been any threats made against that state police barracks. At this point, the names of the two troopers are not being released. The state police commissioner held a news conference just minutes ago. He says this is a very emotional time for state police.
