Lawmaker Assures Constituents Of Rescue Missions’ Commitment Nze Innocent Ekeh, member representing Owerri West in the State House of Assembly has assured the people of Nekede Community that the Rescue Mission Administration is committed to their welfare despite the gully erosion site along old Nekede road which would soon receive attention because he has brought it before the House as well as tabled it before the Governor. He stated this when he visited the erosion site and assured his people of Governments’ efforts to safeguard their lives and property, adding that the problem would soon receive quick response. He enjoined Artisans working within the site to vacate to avoid loss of lives when the work commences. Lending his voice, the Traditional Ruler of Nekede Ancient kingdom, Eze Steve Agumanu noted that many Communities would be affected if the road cuts off and pleaded with the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to come to their aid in his usual magnanimity. Indigenes of the area who added their voices described the situation as alarming and expressed hope that the State Government would commence a remedial work on the site, adding that the situation poses serious danger for the Community and other users. One of the Artisans, who spoke under anonymity, disclosed that Artisans in the Community have tried their best to prevent erosion from cutting off the road to no avail and pleaded with the Government to come to their aid.
