Laws regarding voting should be expanding access and bringing more - TopicsExpress

Laws regarding voting should be expanding access and bringing more people into the political process. Restrictive voting laws do nothing but exclude the poor, the elderly, and the disabled from the voting process, making it more and more difficult for them to comply with the restrictive voting laws. I would support vote-by-ID ONLY if A) it were free, B ) The state assisted you with obtaining legally identifying documents at the states expense. and C) Laws were enacted that prohibited anyone being thrown off the voter roles within 4 months of an election. If the state did not notify you within a reasonable amount of time to fix the problem, then you may still vote regardless of what the state asserts. The burden of proof to show you cannot vote is on the state, not you. And given we have innocent til proven guilty in this country, let the state prove to a judge that someone is disqualified from voting. It should never by the arbitrary belief of an election official.
