Lawyer and Human Rights Activist Mahienour el Massry - smiling today at the appeal against her 2 year prison-sentence for violating the controversial Protest Law. El-Massry was convicted of organising an unauthorised protest, blocking the road, assaulting a police officer and destroying a police vehicle in a ruling in January. Appeal trial postponed until 20 July. Mahienour el Massry was recently awarded the Ludovic Trarieux Award, given annually to a lawyer for contributions to the defence of human rights. Amnesty International has comdemned her conviction, saying: El-Massry is a prisoner of conscience, convicted and sentenced solely for protesting peacefully. She should be immediately and unconditionally released
