Layouts of temples become more complex and larger in scale during tenth – thirteenth centuries. There was an emphasis on mandapas (Hall) with ornate columns and brackets supporting corbelled dome-like ceilings, entered through open porches (Mukhacatuski). Bhadravalokana (Opening at the central offset of temple and/or closed hall; balcony, window) attached with mandapas or rangamandapas (open type of pillared hall) was a pleasing feature of the Indian temples of 10th -13th centuries.
