LePage_2014 To: LOIS From: Brent Littlefield, LePage 2014 Date: September 24, 2014 Subject: Governor LePages record of success Over the last several months the Michaud and Cutler campaigns, and their allies, have spent literally millions of dollars spreading false information about Governor LePages record. In fact, just like the failed efforts of Cutler and Democratic Party in 2010, Governor LePages opponents will say or do anything in a desperate attempt to win. As we move forward it is critical you have the facts about Governor LePages record. Recently, Michael Michauds allies began running advertisements claiming the Governor believes Social Security is welfare. This is absolutely false. Our campaign recently began airing a new television ad on this issue. It notes this is not the first time Michael Michaud has failed to tell the truth. If you have not seen this new ad you can view it here: youtu.be/GelNhsaH848. In addition the Governor addressed this very issue directly many weeks ago: youtu.be/eI6CKOe6VNM. On the economy both Michaud and Cutler have repeatedly provided false information or have purposefully avoided telling the entire story about how much better Maine is today under Governor LePage. Here are a few facts you can share with your family and friends: - Under Baldacci, who endorsed Michaud, Maine’s unemployment rate peaked at 8.4% in each month from December 2009 to March 2010. Today, under Governor LePage, it stands at 5.6%. - Maines unemployment rate is at its lowest level since 2008 and it has never been above the national average under Governor LePage, like it was for a time under Baldacci. - Since Paul LePage took office the number of new, private-sector jobs in Maine is up by 22,100. Over 20,000 new private sector jobs have been created under Governor LePage. - The percentage of people in Maine who are of working age, who can work, and who are working, is now over 61%. This is one of the highest employment-to-population ratios in the entire United States. - The New York Times noted Maine ranks among the top 3 states in the nation for employment ratio growth since the recession. - According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2010 under Baldacci, Maine ranked 48th in the nation for wage growth. In 2013 under Governor Paul LePage, Maine ranked 6th. - Wages are rising in Maine. In 2013, Maine ranked eighth among states in the increase of our wages and sixth as a percentage increase. Maine has come a long way under Governor LePage. We cannot turn back to the Baldacci years or, even worse, to Michaud who has voted against the interests of small business and job growth during thirty-plus years as a politician. Working together we can continue to spread the message that Actions Speak Louder than Words. For more information on Governor LePages efforts, please visit LePage2014 and look under the Issues tab.
