The US and European governments which are the enemies of the Islamic establishment provided the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein with state-of-the-art equipment and encouraged him to continue the war with Iran, said the Leader, adding, “This issue caused the imposed war to last for eight years.” Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that the key contributor to a nation’s dignity is its endeavors on various scientific, economic and social fronts, and above all, the preparedness of its people to sacrifice their lives. “The ill-wishers of the Iranian nation as well as some others seek to get the sacrifices of the Sacred Defense era and its influential characters to slip into oblivion,” Ayatollah Khamenei underscored.
