Leaders are said to lead from the front but Tareque Rahman leads - TopicsExpress

Leaders are said to lead from the front but Tareque Rahman leads from a whole different country. Of course, he is merely following in the footsteps of the Ayatollah Khomeini who inspired revolution in Iran while sitting in Najaf and Paris. While Khomeini had years of revolutionary activity behind him Tareque has no such background and if this oust-government is successful he will have to prove he is a worthy leader as he will be installed in power on the sacrifices of many. His strategy seems, however, to be the only solution in bringing down the AL government but it will not happen in one day and it could take a few months for victory. Tareque will have to show he is an inspirational leader for this to be successful but so far his choice of advisers have been extremely disappointing and his scathing remarks on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have been irrelevant to the present context as they appear to be intended to impress India. The Ayatollah Khomeini used an entirely different tactic as he strongly opposed US and British influence on Iran. At the same time it is not clear that the BNP is calling for revolution and their objectives seems to be far more limited being similar to a Gandhian non-cooperation movement. A call to revolution might, of course, back-fire as the BNP could itself be eliminated from power as people may want democracy but they also want justice and an elimination of corruption and nepotism and a stop to Indian exploitation and interference in the country.
