Leaders in Nandi County have protested over the removal of Mr Kiplimo Rugut as NYS director. Tindiret MP Julius Melly and his Nandi Hills counterpart Alfred Ketter are now appealing to President Kenyatta to reinstate Mr Rugut, a former long-serving provincial commissioner in the Kibaki regime. They are now questioning why the Jubilee government should remove top civil servants from their positions through a mobile phone text message even when such officers have not been implicated in any corruption. Mr Rugut was sent packing by Ms Ann Waiguru last weekend .Rugut was on Monday instructed by the Planning Secretary through a text message, to hand over his office to Mr Githinji hours before Chinese Premier Li toured NYS headquarters in Nairobis Ruaraka area. The Nandi Council of Elders have also raised their concerns over the matter saying Deputy President William Ruto was to blame for the sacking of Rugut. Speaking in Kapsabet town, the chairman Benjamin Kitur and officials of the Kalenjin Welfare Association led by Simon Ng’eny however said the community should exercise caution on the matter as Rugut is a respected person in the community. They said his sacking is a big blow to the community as he served the government diligently and had not been involved in malpractices. Kitur said the move will seriously inflict political injuries to the Jubilee administration. The elders said they hold the same position as Tinderet MP Julius Meli and Nandi Hills MP Alfred Ketter. They said Ruto now owes the community an explanation over the matter.
