Leaders of Party Committee, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee of Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City had a meeting with leaders of Northern Dien Bien province on June 25, aiming to promote cooperation between the two locals. Secretary of Party Committee of HCMC Le Thanh Hai (R) offers a painting to Secretary of Party Committee of Dien Bien Lo Mai Trinh (Photo:SGGP) Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Standing Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Vo Van Thuong said that the city had focused on implementing measures to curb inflation, stabilize the macroeconomic, ensure social security, support business market and dealing with bad debt. Dien Bien’s Party Secretary Lo Mai Trinh affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City is one of leading locals in supporting the province’s development. Particularly, Ho Chi Minh City donated over VND 33 billion for building hospitals, schools as well as implementing social security. Although Ho Chi Minh City has always promoted measures to attract investment as well as create favorable investment environment into Dien Bien province, Dien Bien is one of the poorest provinces in the country with poverty rate of 35.06 percent of population. Ms. Lo Mai Trinh also hoped that the province will continue to receive supports from Ho Chi Minh City in upgrading some social projects such as Muong Ang hospital, educational centers for disadvantaged children, charity centers… In addition, Lo Mai Trinh expressed her desire the city would continue to promote investment projects in tourism, education, commercial banks as well as encourage districts to support poor provinces as Dien Bien province. Marking the 40 anniversary of Reunification Day on April 30, 2015, Dien Bien province hoped that city will support the province to kick off a photography exhibition on Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Lo Mai Trinh added. On behalf of city leaders, Secretary Le Thanh Hai praised Dien Dien’s achievements and expressed his desire the province would overcome difficulties, challenges to develop the province. City will continue to create best favorable conditions to attract investment into Dien Bien because the province has a great economic potential for development of inter-border trade, hydroelectric industry, tourism and industrial tree crops such as rubber, tea and coffee, added the city’s Party leader.
