Leaders of the Journey Kidz Team went to a ministry conference (Orange Tour) yesterday and this is one of the AWESOME sermons we heard by Reggie Joiner! Hoping it speaks to you, like it did to me :) ------ Sometimes in our zeal to fight for what is true we dont fight for the tensions that actually connect those truths to what is real. The very truths that mount faith can dismantle it. People leave and walk away because we werent intentional enough. If you dont teach tension along with truth, you set up (people) to walk away from faith. Tension competes and threatens with what is true, but you diminish truth by removing the tension. Truth can lose clarity and is watered down by lack of tension. Tension makes a truth more real not less true. If you dont say yes to tension, (people) will think God is a lot smaller than he really is. TRUTH: You can know God TENSION: God is a mystery TRUTH: You can become a Christian in a moment TENSION: It will take forever to figure out what that means TRUTH: The Bible is all true TENSION: Everything true about life is NOT in the Bible **Theres a difference between non-biblical and anti-biblical, dont make the truth of life the enemy of the Bible** TRUTH: Trust leads to stronger faith TENSION: Doubt leads to stronger faith **We need to process doubt to own our faith, God is bigger than even your doubt** TRUTH: Enjoy your church TENSION: Enjoy your world **God made both.** TRUTH: Your beliefs matter TENSION: People matter more **Dont let theology/beliefs/policies become more important than people. Engage with the people. Change with the people.** TRUTH: God has an ideal TENSION: God uses broken people **Brokenness demonstrates His glory. GRACE.** TRUTH: God is good TENSION: You should do good **Dont say God forgives, unless you forgive. Dont say God loves, unless you love. Do good because He says to, not to earn His approval**
