Leadership & Team management: Lessons from Mahabharata (my views) True leader is a person who inspires his team members to own his vision for a business. Real business success can be achieved only if there is a happy team working on your dreams. How do you inspire your team? In my humble opinion, by understanding their career aspirations/skills, perfectly knitting them in to yours and justifying their contributions to the business beyond monetary benefits. What could motivate someone beyond money? Respect, Recognition and Ownership of their time, contribution and interests in making your dreams come true. Pandavas had a very structured approach to their team; they divided the team based on their individual strengths and goals. Several of their allies had their personal agenda and hatred for one or more of the Kauravas which was rightly knitted into the overall war plan. Leadership was never an issue because they all had mutual respects for each other especially for the chief strategist Krishna followed by ethical Dharma, skilful Arjuna and mighty Bheema. There was a clear channel of communication, roles, responsibilities and everyone had a common goal, vision and purpose for their participation. This was one of the most crucial aspects for Pandavas success. - Nithya Prabu. PS: Excerpts from my blog: Mahabharata & Me series.
