++ Leadership for Syria (LfS) - Scholarships Programme for Syrian Students Launched ++ Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office with 7.8 million €, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has set up a scholarships programme for refugees from Syria. Gifted Syrian students are to be given the opportunity of studying in Germany in the coming year. The special scholarship programme “Leadership for Syria” (LfS) aims to support the academic qualification and advancement of young Syrian scientists in Germany. In times of civil war and displacement in their home country, this programme intends to give a sustainable contribution to build a future elite of leaders who will play a central role in rebuilding the country. The programme targets highly qualified Syrian high school graduates and students who fulfil the conditions and intend to actively contribute to the reconstruction of Syria after the end of the civil war. Applicants must fulfill the following conditions: Syrian citizenship or permanent residence in Syria before 2011 AND registration as a refugee with UNHCR in Lebanon. Applicants without UNHCR registration are not eligible. The deadline for application is the 15th of December 2014.
