Leafs-Suck salutes the Montreal Canadiens. The efficient fashion by which they disposed of the TB Lightning this evening is a testament to this teams greatness. The 2013-14 season marks the 81st time in 97 years of NHL history that the Canadiens have made the playoffs. No other team is within 10 of this record total. Everyone knows the Canadiens have won 24 Stanley Cups in their glorious history. They also hold the record of 32 appearances in the finals. The Toronto Maple Leafs hold the record for the most consecutive years without a Finals appearance - 47. In contrast, the Canadiens made the Finals 10 years in a row between 1951 and 1960. The Habs have made the playoffs 7 times in the past 9 years, the Leafs only once. The comparisons are unfair as the Montreal Canadiens have been a first class institution for over a century whereas the Leafs have been an abysmal disgrace for close to half a century.
