Learned that Mark Lewis died today. Mark was a grand storyteller and part of the Southern CA Renfest scene and MC for FaerieCon.He was considered by hundreds to souls to be a great light in theater and story. There really are no words. The man didnt know how important he was to me, but I dream of Storytelling one day. His DVD, Word Pictures, is marvelous and I regularlly tell the poem, Sometimes A Wild God, using his inflection and tone. He was, to me, a mentor, though he knew it not. I havent posted anything yet, while dozens of friends were, because I was processing. Ive been outside working in the deep cold and kinda didnt comprehend what I had learned. I would come in, look at my feed here, shake my head, wonder if I understood correctly, go back out to the biting chill. I hadnt cried yet. I had wanted to write Mark this winter and ask for guidance in making storytelling more part of my life. I thought about this yesterday. Just yesterday, when he was still here. Mark truly was a light in life. If you dont know him, go. Youll find his videos out there. Some of his tellings. Yet, you will not really know his light, and now the world is a bit dimmer. Mark and I discussed several times, the two greatest words in our language. Inspiration and Enthusiasm. To Breathe Life Into and To Be Filled With the Spirit. Indeed, Mark taught me that very well, and it was a key moment in my life realizing that those two words were my path in life. It was Marks. Thank you so much for the words. I have cried some now, not nearly enough. I think I will laugh also.
