Learnerships I was so excited when I was told by Lonwabo and Nandipha that we have an opportunity to do learnerships. The Department of Labor and MICT Seta have given us an opportunity to do learnerships for 50 learners. 25 will be from Ngcobo and another 25 will be in Aliwal North. The Department of Labor has created this learnership for unemployed people on their database and its people who have never even touched a computer before. We will be providing training for them for six months and they will also be getting a stipend and after the 6 months they will get an opportunity to work for the Department of Labor and other Government Departments. I think it’s a great program from the Dept of Labor and MICT Seta to bridge to bridge the skills gap and also to provide opportunities for students. I also feel strongly that for Silulo this is the best strategic direction to be in areas where there is no ICT centres so now we become hope for the community because we bring opportunities for them to benefit. I trust that we will continue working very hard to bring more exciting opportunities to be employed, exposed in entrepreneurship and opportunities for people to get skills and development. That is why I believe strongly that the Eastern Cape has so much opportunity for us to bring some exciting and innovation solutions. Nothing excites us more than seeing people from the communities getting skills and embracing technology and grow them personally. We are really honoured to be partnering with the Dept of Labor and Mict Seta in bringing the learnerships to the people of Aliwal North and Ngcobo.
