Learning Something New #71 - Johnny Cashs 1966 hit Ive Been Everywhere has always been one of my favorite road tunes. I always figured that Cash probably hadnt written that particular tune since he was not the pen behind many of his hits in the 60s & 70s, but never thought much of it. So, I was shocked when I recently learned that Ive Been Everywhere is originally an AUSTRALIAN song complete with lyrics that list locations from the land down under! Made popular in Australia by Lucky Starr in 1962, it is worth a listen. You end up with a strange, catchy version of the country hit that everyone knows and loves. Half these cities listed in the song sound made up, but it is a lot of fun.
