Learning and unlearning, is fascinating! We have always merged Acts 1 and Acts 2, to put those 3000 people, all gathered together, into the Upper Room, but context is everything! In Acts 1, the 120 (the number required for the Jewish council), were gathered, to discuss the replacement of Judas (Matthias). Peter was leading this meeting, and Yeshuas mother, and other women were in attendance. In Acts 2 (a separate event), the people are in the bayit, which is the temple (house), not crammed into an upper room. The crowd gathered to hear Peters sermon, and 3000 Believers were immersed in the mikvah pools that were at the temples entrance. This wasnt a new religion or a new church, as these were the same Believers, hearing the same voice of YHVH, who was now speaking through the voice of His people, dwelling with us, in our hearts, pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh! He has always appeared as fire...as with Jeremiah, as with Moses, as with David, with Abraham, in the desert with the Israelites, and with Elijah.. He is the Elohim, who answers by fire! Now, this may not be important to some, but its quite a revelation to me, and helps me to see the Father, His Son, and His Ruach (holy Spirit), more clearly! Purify me, with Your all-consuming fire...remove the dross and all impurities, so that I may be more like You!
