Lecturer in Marine Ecology Institute of Natural & Mathematical Sciences Albany We seek to appoint a new Lecturer in Marine Ecology in the Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (INMS) at Massey University’s Albany campus in Auckland, New Zealand. INMS is a newly formed multi-disciplinary research and teaching Institute within the College of Sciences at Massey University’s Albany campus incorporating Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In conjunction with world-class researchers in the closely-linked Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), INMS has special strengths in theoretical and computational physics and chemistry, quantitative biology and ecology, evolution, genetics, mathematical biology, computational science and modelling of complex systems. Candidates will have excellent academic credentials and a PhD in Marine Biology, Marine Ecology or related discipline, together with a demonstrated track record of high-quality research outputs. The successful candidate will pursue research of international calibre, attract external research funding, supervise postgraduate students, and teach at all levels, both within the new BSc Major in Marine Ecology and also across related fields within INMS (e.g., Biology, Ecology, Zoology, Biometry, etc.). The successful candidate will also engage actively in administrative and professional service to the University and broader academic and professional communities. Applicants with expertise in any area of Marine Ecology are invited to apply. Applicants with research strengths in the biology/ecology of fishes or invertebrates, marine reserves, conservation, biodiversity, rigorous field-based sampling and experimental design, and also having special interest in developing new knowledge of temperate coastal ecosystems, especially through active field-based research activities, will be seen especially favourably. The ideal candidate will also establish novel inter-disciplinary research collaborations with other researchers in INMS and IAS. Level of position and salary will be commensurate with experience.
