Ledumang students clash with the police over student-teacher fight Police were called in this morning to disperse Ledumang Senior Secondary School students who had gone on a riot after a male teacher beat a student, for allegedly laughing and shouting at him after he had kissed another female teacher. According to some students who saw the fight when it erupted between the two, the said teacher called the student and started giving him some hot slaps for his behaviour. “The student then defended himself by also throwing a few blows before his friends approached to help their fellow student. The teacher then ran away to the staff room, where they followed him. The whole school then started shouting at him,” said one witness. He further said that when the police arrived, students threw stones at them and the police fired back with teargas. An effort to contact the School Head was futile as she was said to be in a meeting with some officials from the Ministry of Education. Reached for comment, Officer Commanding at District Number 3, Senior Superintendent Bonnie Bareki who was also at the scene said, “We currently have no information of what could have triggered the situation because we are waiting for the school head to brief us.”
