Lee Min Ho shares his rock star ambitions Just like Minoz, we are a little bummed to hear that that Lee Min Ho’s concert in Singapore has been postponed to a later date. And to help ease the disappointment, we are presenting to you an email chat we shared with him prior to the announcement where he lets us in on his thoughts about music and fans. Lee Min Ho’s global tour may be titled ‘RE:MINHO’, but when we quizzed him on what he would like to change about his life, he revealed that he is more concerned with venturing beyond the typical impression his loyal supporters have of him. “I am trying to show a different side of myself by naming the tour ‘RE:MINHO’. It has the meaning of a new challenge. I will do my best and put in my best effort in the journey that I am about to embark for my fans, who have been showering me with endless love. And he did craft a new image of himself with the release of his latest mini-album Song For You. While most people knew him for the modern-day prince charming roles he played in The Inheritors and Boys Over Flower, the sophomore album earned him recognition for his vocal chops. Unlike most actors-turned-singers who saw music as a way to grow their fan-base, Lee Min Ho recorded Song For You as a way of expressing his gratitude for his loyal supporters at the ongoing tour. “I think releasing an album is a great medium for me to communicate with my fans and it gives me more opportunities to meet with them. [Song For You] consists of five new songs of the pop-rock genre and the title track contains a lot of messages. I hope everyone will enjoy listening to it.” Now while it was evident that the 27-year-old can do more than just hold a tune, fans may want to wait a little longer before referring to him as a full-fledged musician. “It is my honour to be called a singer. I do sing, but it is one way to express myself and show my appreciation to my fans. I believe it is a bit of an exaggeration to call me a professional singer. I want to continue to show a better side of myself every time I stand in front of my fans. I will be working hard to achieve that.” Lee Min Ho has since visited China and Japan for his tour, so read on as Lee Min Ho opens up about his musical influences, pre-recording ritual and fluency in Mandarin. Who or what inspires your music? My Fans! Listen to ‘Song for you’ from the new album and you will find the answer. Without my fans? Oh no! I can never imagine myself singing in front this many people. If you can serenade anyone in the world, who will it be and why? It would be my fans. I [have been performing] my new songs at the concert. I guess that is [my way of serenading] my fans. (c) Priscilla Wu | Lee Min Ho Official Facebook | meradio | Admin Shining Star
