Ends 8.30/45 pm (approx) All welcome (mixed event) £1.50 January’s meeting will be a little different to usual: There will be just one speaker for a special Arts Council Funding talk & for this month only booking is required. Speaker: David Gaffney – Writer & Relationship Manager at The Arts Council, North David will talk about the support available to individual creators and organisations from Arts Council England. The talk will be particularly aimed at those artists creating and writing comics, graphic novels etc. David will talk about how individual artists, arts organisations, and others can apply for Grants for the Arts lottery funding. This will include, what you can apply for, how to make your application stand out, how applications are scored and appraised, how decisions are made, what match funding is required etc. and loadsof invaluable tips on how to achieve funding success. Comics creators who heard this talk at LICAF, Kendal 2013 found it extremely useful and many went on to achieve successful applications. It was started by illustrator Nicola Streeten & artist Sarah Lightman in London in 2009. Laydeez do Comics was set up in Leeds in 2012 and is now run by Louise Crosby.
