Leeds set to unveil Milanic Leeds United are very close to confirming Darko Milanic as their new head coach. The 46-year-old Slovenian is set to sign a two-year contract with the Sky Bet Championship club, owner Massimo Cellino has told Milanic confirmed his departure from Austrian club Sturm Graz on Sunday and is due to take training with the Leeds squad on Tuesday morning after flying to England on Monday. He had been in charge at Sturm Graz for 15 months but a get-out clause has been activated in his three-year agreement. He said: “This is a tremendous opportunity that I had to accept as who knows when such an offer will come again? “Sturm is my club and I had great times. But then an offer came from another world. It was not an easy decision for me to go to Leeds.” Neil Redfearn has been acting as caretaker boss of Leeds since Dave Hockaday’s departure from Elland Road last month. United are currently 11th in the Championship following Saturday’s 3-0 home victory over local rivals Huddersfield Town. Their next match sees them take on Brentford at Griffin Park on Saturday when Milanic is set to be in charge for the first time. Milanic, a former Slovenia and Yugoslavia international, was previously with Slovenian side Maribor, with whom he enjoyed great success, winning nine domestic trophies during five seasons.
