Left us on this day (Dec. 16) in 2007: Dan Fogelberg (prostate cancer, age 56), one of the most popular soft rock singer-songwriters of the 70s; starting in 1975, he released a string of gold & platinum selling albums including Phoenix (1979), which included the US #2 single Longer, that has since become a wedding favorite; a pair of collaborations with jazz flautist Tim Weisberg (including 1978s Twin Sons of Different Mothers) were also very popular with fans; in 1981, he released the bluegrass album High Country Snows that included such guests as Vince Gill, Doc Watson, Jerry Douglas & David Grisman; Dan remained active either touring or recording into the early-2000s, often using his popularity to promote social & environmental issues; in 2008, Dans widow released Sometimes a Song, which he had written & recorded for her on Valentines Day 2005, with all proceeds benefitting the Prostate Cancer Foundation; in 2010, the Dan Fogelberg memorial garden was dedicated in Riverfront Park in his hometown of Peoria, Illinois…
