Left us on this day (Nov. 19) in 2004: US musician & producer Terry Melcher (melanoma, age 62), best remembered as a key player in shaping the sound of 60s American West Coast music, from surf to folk-rock & country rock; he produced The Byrds innovative hits, Mr. Tambourine Man & Turn! Turn! Turn!; he worked extensively with The Beach Boys, helping on their legendary Pet Sounds project, co-writing 1988 hit Kokomo & producing their 1992 Summer in Paradise - considered the first album produced digitally on Pro Tools; as an artist himself, he scored several early-60s hits, including Summer Means Fun as Bruce & Terry (with Bruce Johnston) & Hey, Little Cobra as The Rip Chords; he released the solo country rock albums Terry Melcher (1974) & Royal Flush (1976); as a producer, Terry also worked with the likes of Paul Revere & The Raiders, Glen Campbell, Mark Lindsay,The Mamas & The Papas & more; he was the only child of singer/actress Doris Day…(this & more featured today at Roch Parisiens Rocon Communications music chat page...)
