THE SECOND vigil to commemorate the victims of the ongoing violence in Palestine takes place this evening. The Palestine Solidarity Group (PSG) - which has been running for about five years - seeks to raise awareness of the “injustice” faced by Palestinians, and to remember those who have been lost. Lefty Dave Franklin, a PSG member, said: “I was brought up a Jew, and it shocks me that I could fly out tomorrow and live in a land which I have no connections to, whereas people who have keys to a property there have been thrown out and forced to live in poverty. “It makes me very angry.” The vigil is hoping to be staged every Friday at The Place de Brest garden on Cornwall Street, as a commemorative event. Wednesday also saw an awareness evening at Charles Cross, to educate people and show support. Franklin said: “There were lots of families there, and people from the mosque. “We had very little hostility, and we just want to show that there are people in Plymouth who are opposed to what is happening in Palestine. “Tonight will be a fairly solemn event. We will light candles and anybody is welcome to come along.” -C-
