LegalEra Indo-Asian Business and Law Conclave 2014 Mumbai: Come spring and it is time for The LegalEra Indo-Asian Business and Law Conclave scheduled on 14 & 15 March 2014 at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The 3rd Annual LegalEra Conclave 2014 launched with a welcome address by the host Aakriti Raizada- Founder & Managing Editor, LegalEra that is India’s No.1 Legal And Corporate Awareness Magazine, published by ARA Techno Legal Solutions Pvt. Ltd. “The main intention of this Conclave,” said Ms. Raizada, “is to bridge the Legal and Business community of India and mirror the status of our segment being the best instrument of communication in the community.” Mysore Prasanna, Former General Counsel of the Aditya Birla Group who chaired the inaugural session welcomed the guests and announced the theme of the Conclave to be Emerging Trends in Business and Law and Indian Legal Awards 2013-14. The Chief Guest was Justice B.N. Srikrishna, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Rajeev Shukla, Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Planning, GOI was the Guest of Honour. In his inaugural speech Justice B.N. Srikrishna said consumer is the king of all businesses, businesses thrive on feeding the appetite of the king and revel in feeding the kings appetite grew. That kind of consumerism has changed the global consumerism and is replaced by cautious buying. We face today the frugal consumer. This he has used this as a shift towards a more permanent condition of consumerism that will change the way businesses operate and all will have to change the new mindsets that are redundant and adept to the new mindsets of the king. Globally people of all income and demographic level have reduced compulsive spending and opting for products that provide value and meaning to their lives. Shop till you drop is no longer the creed; it is now spend if you need which has replaced the old credo. Rajeev Shukla the astute politician also the driving force for the Indian Premier League. Choosing to speak as a commoner “India has emerged” he unquoted. He said that growth should spread across all cross-sections of society and development reached not only the urban populace but rural India too benefitted from the same. It is imperative that we must protect the growth of the nation. Another aspect that Rajeev Shukla commented upon was the affordability of justice. He emphatically asked: “Can a retired supreme court justice afford to fight his case in Supreme Court? “ He added “My humble request is that the High Courts and judiciary should not get carried away by Big Names. If a youngster is correct then he should be given levy and the popular names should not monopolize the practice of the courts.” He raised a relevant question by stating that the numbers of lawyers is swelling and if they don’t get their bread and butter and if how will the profession expand. There is evidently a gap in the same and the disparity has to be addressed, he emphasized. Rajeev Shukla shared his views with LegalEra – Legal help he said should be easily available to all. Generally dates are given after dates what is the status of the legal system. I believe that the dowry act is totally wrongly used. The abused are women, the lawyers are women and the perspective is from the women’s side. The entire scenario is fake and misused. The bites and public appearances are adversely affecting the judiciary. The media persons miss the substance and take only the quotes and do not with reference to the context.
