Legendary cartoonist and humorist RK Laxman breathed his last - TopicsExpress

Legendary cartoonist and humorist RK Laxman breathed his last yesterday RK Laxman was the creator of the iconic Common Man series of cartoons that was first published in The Times of India as part of the daily strip titled You Said It in 1951. The Common Man represented the thinking Indian who silently observes the events happening around him. In a sense, the Common Man was a mirror to the readers. Created at a time when imported cartoon characters ruled the leisure pages of Indian newspapers, RK Laxman helped to provide a sense of identity to the average Indian reader through his work. The Empower Pragati team bids a tearful farewell to the man who made us smile.
