Legends To Get Fed Cup Honour A total of 10 Nigerian soccer legends, both male and female, who have featured in past editions of the Federation Cup, will be honoured at this year’s edition of the final on Sunday at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos. Organisers of the impending spectacle in The Centre of Excellence, which will feature both male and female finals of the prestigious competition, say the roll call of honours are coming in furtherance of a promise by as fulfillment of a promise by Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola during the handover of trophy to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Those listed for honour this year include former Super Falcons coach, Paul Hamilton; 1985 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning coach, Sebastian Brodericks-Imasuen, Amusa Shittu as well as late Muda Lawal. Others are Dominic Iorfa, Joe Erico, Josiah Dombraye, Toyin Ayinla, Stanley Eguma and ace broadcaster, Walter Oyatogun. All the legends will be recognised to highlight the day’s activities, in which Enyimba International and Warri Wolves will clash in the men’s final, while Nasarawa Amazon and Rivers Angels will tackle each other in the women’s game. Commissioner for youth, sports and social development, Waheed Oshodi explained that the state was poised bring back the glory of the Federation Cup, which is the oldest competition in Nigeria. “The essence of this honour is to appreciate the outstanding performance of some players who had featured in the Federation Cup,” said Oshodi.
