Leges Bellagines 1. Beyond the flow of time and the cogitation of the gods, is the Living and Eternal Fire, from whom everything and through whom everything that exists is alive. Everything and Nothing are His breath, the void and the fullness are His hands, the movement and the stillness are His feet, nowhere and everywhere are His waist, and His face is the light. Nothing can be done without light and everything that comes from light becomes life and takes shape. 2. As the lightning is bringing the light, and from light the thunder and the fire that pours out of it, the same is the human thought, it is passing into the human word and then into his deed. So, heed this, because before the burning fire, it must be a light and a thunder. The human’s light is his thought and this is his most valuable asset. Light becomes powerful through word, and the human will is lighting up the fire trough which all that are around him, are happening. 3. Be as the lofty mountain and raise your light above all that surrounds you. Do not forget that you take the same steps on the peak of the mountain as in its valley, the air is the same up as it is down, the tree grows the same on the peak of the mountain as in the valley, the sun lights the lofty peak the same as the smooth earth. 4. Be thriftily as the earth and you will not lack anything. The branch overloaded with fruit is broken by the wind sooner, the seed too deep does not sprout and too much water is fading its breath. 5. Heed the stately tree, for the higher it is - the deeper its roots are into the earth, because from the earth it takes its strength, do not forget that. The more you rise, the more you have to descent, because the measurement of the rise is the same with the measurement of the descent. 6. The human’s power begins with the unspoken word, it is the same with the sprouting seed, you cannot even see it when it comes alive. The light of the seed is the one that lifts it up, the earth is the one that feeds it, the water is the one that strengthens it and the patience embraces it with strength. 7. Watch the river and be aware of its teaching. In the beginning, it is just a trickle, but it grows larger and larger, because it comes from what it is larger and this is the way things need to be done, by their nature. The same it is with the good and fair rightened thought, it makes room among rocks and cliffs, takes no account of anything, it follows its road and nothing stands in its way. Water and water gather each other, and together their power is even greater. 8. Take account of this secret and do not forget it, that trickle of water knows where it’s getting to, for it is one with the earth and everything that comes in its way, can’t stop it till the end. So, be aware of your thought where it has to go and you will see that nothing stands in its way. Let your thought be clear till the end; a lot will arise in its way, because the nature of the surrounding things is moving like waters. Water with water meets each other, land with land and mountain with mountain. 9. Be aware of the bad thought, avoid it like the lightning; let it go as it came, for it urges you to unnatural things. Avoid the empty words and the untruth; they are like the desert dust that covers your eyes, like the spiders’ net for your mind and your soul. They urge you to arrogance, delusion, theft and bloodshed, and their fruits are the shame, the helplessness, the poverty, the illness, the grief and the death. 10. Do not judge people by their weight, by their power, by their fortune, by their beauty or by their zeal, because either of then left something out in order to grow in something else. The rich one is poor in tranquillity, the strong one is weak for another person and the weak one has his hidden strength. As the nature of things is moving, so is the human being. What gives value to a tool, its usefulness or its beauty? Can a man carry more than an ox can carry? Is anyone richer than the earth? Only knowledge and wisdom rise the human over the beasts. And your knowledge is in vain if it is not edified by time.
