Legislators seem to think that government can pass a law called - TopicsExpress

Legislators seem to think that government can pass a law called the End Domestic Violence Act and never again will domestic violence occur. They feel that passing a law called the Affordable Care Act will make healthcare affordable. That drug laws will stop drug users. That gun laws stop gun crime. That speeding limits stop speeding? How much evidence do you all need before you recognize that laws dont always work and shouldnt always be kept in place? In a comment response yesterday, I stated that it was not my job to prove that something should be legal. Its the legislators job to prove why something should be illegal. In fact, they should have to prove it over and over and over again. If the justification for the law doesnt pan out, the law should be eliminated. The sheer number of laws that Americans must obey 24/7/365 is preposterous. Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Every level of government should spend time removing laws, restrictions, and barriers to growth. Legislators, dont justify your existence by adding laws. Justify your existence by removing some.
