Legislature Says No to Proposal To Cut Costs AND Save Jobs Days proposal called for 39 positions to be cut which represent a savings of more than $1.68 million to Rockland Countys taxpayers just in salaries alone. Most of the jobs are at the Summit Park Hospital which is being sold. Day said: If we do nothing and leave it to another to decide, i.e. the purchaser, every one of these people will lose their jobs, If we take these steps now, we hold the cards. https://facebook/permalink.php?story_fbid=276720712528080&id=146207698912716 As expected the Legislative Committee considering Days proposal said NO. Though the committee voted against Days proposals, it did approve two others reclassifying existing positions. The first, a reclassification of ONE Department of Health position from full-time to part-time, passed unanimously. The second sought to eliminate seven “orphaned positions” in the Department of Mental Health, which were left redundant by the transfer of inpatient services to Nyack Hospital and was approved by all committee members except Leg. Toney Earl. Legislator Toney Earl, who was appointed to the Rockland County Legislature in November 2010, couldnt even bring himself to eliminate positions which no longer exist! rocklandtimes/2014/08/28/legislature-partially-rejects-county-executives-cost-saving-layoff-plan/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
