Leila Hatami, an Iranian actress who kissed the 83-year-old president of the Cannes film festival on the cheek has apologized to her country, after a photo of the red carpet incident caused outrage. “Iranian woman is the symbol of chastity and innocence,” Hossein Nushabadi, Iran’s deputy minister of culture said. Now she is facing a strict charges for kissing a strange man for which she may be flogged in public with 50 lashes.
