Leisure IndustryAcademy would like to wish good luck to past student Kimberley Norton who has been nominated and short listed in tonights Belfast City Council Sports Awards, in the category of Active Lifestyle - Check out her story of how she came to be where she is today!!!! #goodluckkimberley #teamLIA After finishing school in June 2013, I was put forward for a competition on Leisure Industry Academys Facebook page to win a personal training course, which to my surprise I won!!!!! So during the summer while my friends were out enjoying themselves, I was in the classroom and gym at LIA. I passed my fitness instructor course and then went on to pass my Personal Trainer course!!! The staff and Careers Team at LIA (whilst slightly mad) have been extremely helpful in every way! The tutors were excellent explaining everything in a way which is easily understood & they continue to keep in touch, passing on their knowledge even after I have passed my course! I felt so welcome and relaxed at LIA that I went on to do a Group Fit box and Suspension Training course and I intend to keep learning with LIA. My next move will be to complete courses in Adapting Exercise for Adolescents and Pre and Post Natal, hopefully to be done within the next few months. The fantastic courses I have done with LIA have been a great benefit to Hillview Boxing Club which I am a member of. They have also given me the chance to start my own business Kimberley Norton Fitness Professional which I run alongside studying PE at university. All of these things have led me to be nominated and short listed in the Belfast City Councils Sports Awards in the category of active lifestyle. Without LIA none of this would be possible so thanks very much and see you soon when I book in for my next course!
