Leninism: Created by V.I. Lenin, Leninism is a doctrine of proletarian revolution based on the line of march of the industrial social revolution between 1900-01 and the 1919 founding of the Third Communist International. The paramount social questions faced by bourgeoisie and proletariat in the feudal Russian empire, that is to say the social questions posed along the line of march of the industrial social revolution, were: a) the role of the proletariat as the vanguard champion of democracy, b) resolution of the peasant question, c) the Marxist approach to the national and national-colonial questions and d) constructing a political party able to lead the proletariat in successful insurrection against its class enemies. Lenin’s doctrine of combat resolved the social questions posed by the line of march, favorable to the proletariat and in such a way as to make possible the construction of a “party of a new type” that captured state power and established the dictatorship of the proletariat. Lenin referred to his doctrine of combat as Bolshevism. After Lenin’s death his Bolsheviks referred to their doctrine as Leninism. Thus, Leninism is Bolshevism. J.V. Stalin’s classical 1924 definition of Leninism remains the bookmark by which all definitions of Leninism are measured. Leninism is Marxism of the era of imperialism and the proletarian revolution. To be more exact, Leninism is the theory and tactics of the proletarian revolution in general, the theory and tactics of the dictatorship of the proletariat in particular. Marx and Engels pursued their activities in the pre-revolutionary period, (we have the proletarian revolution in mind), when developed imperialism did not yet exist, in the period of the proletarians’ preparation for revolution, in the period when the proletarian revolution was not yet an immediate practical inevitability. But Lenin, the disciple of Marx and Engels, pursued his activities in the period of developed imperialism, in the period of the unfolding proletarian revolution, when the proletarian revolution had already triumphed in one country, had smashed bourgeois democracy and had ushered in the era of proletarian democracy, the era of the Soviets. https://marxists.org/reference/archive/stalin/works/1924/foundations-leninism/introduction.htm
