Delaney presented early in centre square, White and anothert tackle by Hayes. The ball looked more like pinball with the ball in and out of each others fifty before Sloane delivered to the crows fifty for a one on one between Walker and Delaney but Delaney slipped leaving Tex to walk into an open goal and the scores are all tied up at one goal apiece. Lenny on 4 tackles half way through the first term. A rushed behind gave the crows a defensive kick out but the crows really don’t look settled and the Saints set play across our half forward line is holding up play as Adelaide tried to bring the ball back through the corridor. Hayes grabbed to loose ball around the outer wing and hit Rooey laces out forty out who in turn hit White in the pocket but the wrong pocket for a lefty and a minor score the result. On the return journey, the smallest bloke on the ground wearing the biggest pants (Eddie Betts) took an easy mark but created a contest around the left pocket and force from Ray saw a throw in and Fisher Gwilt Delaney Armitage, Delaney, Roberton, Ray to Ross and back to Ray who ran into an unattended goal for a goal and 8 point lead to the saints. Dempster kicked the behind for them and the contests again and again in the crows fifty were fierce with Newnes, Weller and Chips sent it back out to the fifty where Sloane took a strong mark 45 out. He kicked truly and the crows took the lead for the first time for the game. A few cracks began to appear late in the term with dempster and Weller being a little erratic with their delivery and although we presented well in the midfield and Gwilt filled some gaps it was sent straight back into little Bettsy who failed to benefit putting only a behind on the board. Gwilt ‘did it again’ kicking in from the square hitting Sloane 35 out who sent it straight back in over his head for 6 point.
