Lenore Wilson is our featured artist of the week! Lenore Wilson studied art at Trent University in Peterborough ON, The Station Gallery in Whitby ON, and at the Art School of Peterborough. In the early years she was mentored by the landscape artist Carol Kapuscinsky, which culminated in a solo exhibition of her work at The Inverlyn Gallery in Whitby. After taking several years off to have and raise a family, she starting taking classes again in Peterborough. There she met artist and illustrator Anne Cavanaugh, who gave Lenore drawing skills to enhance her passion for creating art. Finding inspiration in Anne, Lenore ventured into a shared show with her at Nata’s Café in October of 2011. Since then Lenore has become a board member for the Art School of Peterborough, where she successfully implemented a program to bring the art school into the local public, private, and separate grade schools. More recently Lenore was involved in the large group show ‘Peterborough In Portrait’ where as a part of this art movement she had the opportunity to mentor three young artists, including her own two daughters, through self-portrait works of art, to be included in the exhibition. Currently she is represented by Gallery in The Attic in Peterborough, ON., and is preparing for a show potentially scheduled for May, 2015. Lenore resides with her family in Peterborough ON, where she continues to grow into an active participant of the thriving Peterborough arts community, and displays her work throughout the city of Peterborough.
